Using it from Microsoft Teams

Last updated: 10/25/2026

If your organization connected the Sourced Agent to Microsoft Teams, anyone in the company can ask it questions from there, not just the procurement team, without opening the platform. It lets requesting areas check for themselves "what happened with my request?".

How to use it

  • By direct message: find the Sourced app in Teams apps, add it and type your question, just like in the app: request status, deliveries, tenders, suppliers and history.
  • In a channel or group chat: if the app has been added, mention it with @Sourced and type your question. The answer goes in the thread and everyone in the channel or chat can see it.
  • The assistant recognizes you by your Microsoft account email: if it matches a Sourced user in your organization, it answers with your context; if not, it still answers within the organization's scope.
  • Guests (accounts from other companies added to your Teams) cannot ask it questions.

Good to know

The same rules as in the app apply: it's for queries (it doesn't create requests), it only sees your organization's data, and it doesn't expose tender prices or proposals. Complex queries (the ones that cross several topics or ask for totals and comparisons) stay in the platform chat. If a channel includes people from other companies, they see the answer too: for one-off questions use a direct message.

How your admin connects it

Your organization's admin connects it from Admin Panel → Integrations → Microsoft Teams, which only appears if your organization has Microsoft Teams enabled (if not, ask your Sourced contact). It takes two steps:

  1. Connect Microsoft Teams: a Microsoft 365 administrator of your company approves it. If that is someone else, Copy link lets your admin send them the link, which expires in 7 days and works once. It is normal for Microsoft to show the app as "unverified" (unverified publisher).
  2. Download Teams app and upload the sourced-teams.zip file in the Teams Admin Center, under Teams apps → Manage apps → Upload new app. If the upload option does not appear, enable "Upload custom apps" in the app setup policies.

That screen also shows whether it is connected, to which Microsoft tenant and who connected it, and has Reconnect and Disconnect. If it is disconnected, the assistant stops answering in Teams until a Microsoft 365 administrator approves the connection again.
